Why join HACSU?
For more than 100 years, thanks to the collective strength of HACSU members, we have won improved wages and conditions, enhanced career standards and maintain the status of mental health, disability and alcohol and other drug services as specialist professions in their own right.
HACSU has skilled officials to support member’s professional and training needs, health and safety requirements and provide state wide industrial advocacy and representation. HACSU provides an industrial resource team for members through the telephone and workplace visits . We have a networks of member delegates who work in your service to assist you, and full time Organisers who support members to campaign for improved services, wages, conditions and a safe work place.
Who can join HACSU?
HACSU represents all members, regardless of classification or discipline who work in mental health, disability and alcohol and other drug services.
Services provided to members
- Professional Indemnity Insurance - HACSU provides direct care members with a $2 million Professional Indemnity cover.
- Professional representation - HACSU develops and advocates policies on minimum training standards, qualifications, professional supervision and standards to government, peak industry groups and employers.
- Support at work - HACSU provides advice and assistance with work related grievances, underpayments, discipline, unfair dismissal, legal advice, return to work after injury or if things go wrong at work.
- Health and Safety - HACSU provides specialist support to ensure that workplaces are safe. Those workplaces are designed and maintained to safe standards. Members have access to training, resource materials, and advice representation to resolve problems before they arise.
- HACSU members are informed –HACSU keeps members up to date on what is happening in our industry through regular newsletters, bulletins and emails/Enews and your union journal, Unity.
- Discount services for members – HACSU members receive many discount services including home loan, financial planning, shopping and discount movie tickets.
